Careful comparing credits

Most platforms sell "message credits", but a credit does not mean the same thing everywhere. Several charge more than one credit per reply depending on which AI model answers, so the number on the pricing page is not the number of questions your visitors get answered. Chatbase, for example, publishes a rate of 1 credit for its economy models, 3 credits for Claude Sonnet and 5 for Claude Opus. So the same 1,500 credits might answer 1,500 questions or only 300, depending on which model you pick.

Every credit here is one reply, always, whichever model we run. Today that is Claude Haiku 4.5, and if we move to something stronger your allowance does not shrink to pay for it. There is no multiplier and no arithmetic to do before you know what you are buying.

What one reply costs youHereTypical credit pricing
Economy model1 credit1 credit
A stronger model, e.g. Claude Sonnet1 credit3 credits
The strongest, e.g. Claude Opus1 credit5 credits
So 1,500 credits answers1,500 questions300 to 1,500

Multipliers shown are Chatbase's published rates as of August 2026. The point is not that one is always cheaper: it is that their number depends on a choice you make later, and ours does not. Check their pricing yourself before deciding; we would rather you did.

What counts as a message

One message credit is one reply from your agent to one visitor. Building your knowledge base does not consume credits, however many pages or documents you give it, and neither does reading your conversations or reports. If you run out before the month is up, the agent stops answering new messages and tells visitors to email you directly. It keeps recording what they asked, so nothing is lost. You can start it again by buying a top-up pack or moving up a plan, and either takes effect immediately. We never bill you for overage automatically. Going over costs you nothing unless you choose to buy more.

Can I cancel

Any time, from the portal. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Is there a setup fee

No. No setup fee, no per-seat charge, and no minimum term.

Do unused messages roll over

Your monthly allowance does not; it resets at the start of each billing period. Top-up credits are different: they never expire, and they are only spent once the month's allowance is gone.

What if I run out mid-month

We email you when you are down to 20% of your credits, and again if they run out, so it should not take you by surprise. Your portal also shows how many are left and estimates the date you will run out at your current pace. You can buy a top-up pack there in a couple of clicks: 100 credits for $6, 600 for $36, or 2,500 for $150. Top-ups are 6 cents a message whatever the size; the plans are where the price per message comes down. If you are running out most months, moving up a plan is usually cheaper, and the portal does that comparison for you rather than leaving you to work it out.
